DJ & Producer Bio:

DJing electronic music since 1996, Quail started out under the name Christian Science. Quail has released loads of mix tapes and CDs of Detroit Techno and House sounds (yes, all of them illegal as murder!!!) and finished as a runner-up in the first annual URB Magazine Mixtape contest in 1999 (the only Canadian to land in the finals). In 2005, another mix CD called Navigator garnered the following review in URB Magazines Jan/Feb issue:

Mark Quail Navigator In case you werent aware, we here at Mix-It are from the Midwest, which means its pretty impossible to impress us with a techno mix. But Holy Hollywood Batman, did this disc take us right back to a sweat and soot soaked warehouse somewhere deep in the rustbelt. Mr. Quail, whos from the once techno hothouse of Toronto, plays crunchy and hard, but not too fast, with just enough elements of melody and acid (oh that acid) to make us wish we were right in front, chewing on the speaker grills. And most impressively, hes done it by digging out records we havent heard a million times. Rarities from Felix the Housecat under his various old acid-house guises mix perfectly with DBX minimalism. We thought you had to go to Berlin (or back in time) to hear this stuff. (by Jack Real)

1999 saw Quail launching Great Lakes Records and releasing material from techno and house luminaries like Imitryx, L.A. Williams, Agent X and Jordan Fields. In 2001, he deployed Secret Weapon Records (www.secretweaponrecords.com) which featured Quails own productions under the aliases The Attorney General, The Diamond Dogs and Samoan Attorney, and remixes from L.A. Williams and Jacob Fairley and co-productions with Himadri, formerly of Teste (+8, Probe).

Quail continues to unearth more sonic secret weapons for his label and 2006 will see new tracks from Polands Greg Kobe and Chriss Zimmer and Germanys Sascha Muller. Check out http://www.beatport.com/Secret_Weapon_Records to get high-quality digital downloads.Watch for the Great Lakes Sound double CD set to be released this year on Third Ear Records (UK), on which Quail has compiled 20 tracks by Chicago, Detroit and Toronto area techno gurus, including Adam Jay, Woody McBride, Frankie Vega and pan/tone. This compilation will cause dance floor havoc!

Quail has DJd throughout Canada and the US, including on the bills with John Acquaviva, The Stickmen, Agent X (planet e), DBX (Accelerate), Mike Grant (Moods & Grooves) and Greg Gow (Restructured).
