Krista has been into mixing since her parents bought her that first tape deck and mix-tape when she was 7 years old. Shortly after that she discovered the magic of those little round pieces of flat plastic that make fun sounds and hasn't bought another tape since (except for maybe that DJ Jeno one when she lived in SF).
Krista's real DJ career began in the early nineties and coincides with her return from a summer trip to San Francisco that lit a fire and got her hooked on DJs. But you might say, if you believe in that sort of thing, that she was either in the right place at the right time or that the stars had aligned to show her a path... Within weeks of her return she had sourced out a pair of techniques 1200s from a deadhead in need of cash to pay off his dealer and was having little 'mixing parties' at the loft she shared with several other aspiring DJ types. By Christmas she had her first gig, at a club night called Club Lab, by the next summer was traveling to gig in Toronto, and by the next fall she was being invited to play in the US.
In 1996 Krista took the opportunity to temporarily relocate to San Francisco where she spent a year working in the Bay Area at a record distributor and at one of SFs finest record shops, Open Mind Music. She also held residencies at Spundae Sundays and at all-time fave San-Fran watering hole The Top.
Krista has also had the honour of holding residencies at Montreal institutions like Angel's (Plush!), Playground (CENTRAL Fridays), SONA, Jingxi and Stereo over the years.
Very recently Krista left her job of 3-years as indie-sales rep at Distribution Fusion3 to take on a full time position with Transform Media and is getting ready for a summer of business trips to London, Spain and Germany (!). While is Montreal she is trying to get a handle on the software she got to make music with, and continuing to put together intimate, pared-down events with Mighty Kat, Eliot Lazor and other like-minded Montreal DJs, and she still travels to Toronto almost monthly.
