Living across Detroit meant he was lucky enough to listen the nightly excursions laid out by the legendary DJ The Electrifying Mojo. As years past his tastes ventured to the harder aspects found in punk and hardcore. It wasn't until he searched out some Pailhead during one of his weekly trip over to across the border for his record fix. Soon other sounds from Chicago's WaxTrax started finding a home in his collection, but it was not until the sounds of Can, Stereolab, Th' Faith Healers and Mouse on Mars did ESB's outlook on music and how it can be presented truly dawn on him. Through his job as a purchaser for a highly regarded import/specialist shop which used to grace London, Ontario he was exposed to many fine forms of music that where made with a purpose in mind. As a natural progression from being an avid promoter of the music he felt strongly about through print (ESB produced and edited his own h/c & punk fanzine in the early 90's) he got entwined in the arena of dj'ing. In a very short time ESB began to make quite a name for himself throughout Ontario. Through his fine selection of left field beats he played many d&b parties alongside playing the abstract rooms for some of Toronto's most respected techno and deep house promoters. With the advent of online print media & promotions beginning to make an impact on the way people get their information ESB soon hooked up with URBNET offering his editorial and reviewing skills. This proved to be a great partnership which has spawned years of features which are still seen on the pages or URBNET. ESB kept up his duties up on the print media sector as a contributing reviewer for the premiere electronic/lifestyle magazine XLR8R. These days ESB concentrates on keeping the drum & bass content on URBNET fresh and up to date. As well, his "Unwind Radio Sessions" web show hits some 4000 listeners on a weekly basis. Live engaments and press & promotions duties for Precision Breakbeat Research keeps this breakbeat crusader quite busy.
