Caspian Rabone

It all started at art school, since then Caspian has played alongside some of the best global talent, formed Polaris Records and is now establishing himself as one of the new blood of artists to watch that is defining a sound that bridges the gap between hard, tribal and funky minimal techno.
Into music from a very early age, Caspian received some classical training at school and dabbled in indie during his teenage years. Through the ambient techno doorway Caspian shifted his musical focus and by the summer of 1995 he landed his first notable residency at the renowned club La Grotta in Malta. In 1997, he made Toronto his home and introduced himself to the local scene by launching Toronto's first weekly techno night; 'Gargantuan V' at infamous underground club Area 51.
Polaris was formed out of this period; influenced by the hard techno of Germany, Sweden and the UK. By 2000 Polaris Records had put out its debut 12" with global recognition from some of the most respected djs. The releases that followed showcased the cream of Toronto hard/tribal techno making their way onto shelves and into the most influential djs boxes. Creatively involved in 99% of Polaris output to date, Caspian has also worked solo under his own name and the villa_straylight moniker.
Polaris is garnering more attention with each release through licensing and chart listings. Never tied to a specific formula, the label continues to explore the percussive and tribal realms of techno with plans to introduce more talent in coming releases.
Using the Polaris platform Caspian has been busy djing and working hard on his solo production work. The last couple of years has seen him booked in NYC, France, Detroit, Slovenia, London, Miami, Madrid and Malta.
And what plans for the future? More new sounds. More production on more labels. More performances...
